Berlin – the Pankow District
I know there are sooooo many reports of Berlin here but I just visited for three days and I LOVED it. I thought though I would focus my report on a particular district that I absolutely adored: Pankow. Seriously, it's the best. I want to live there (and it's very cheap to live actually - you can rent a 4 bedroom place for just €500 a month including all your bills).
Anyway, here's Pankow!

At the station in Pankow. Some street art!

Right off the station we came across some grass (covered in frost) next to a school. The kids were at recess, playing happily.

You'll have to forgive me but I took a bunch of pictures of the buildings. They had so much character!

The playground of the school.

Walking through the streets... I would love to live in one of these!

Another cool little park/playground. I'm fascinated with German playgrounds. They seem like so much more imaginative and fun. In the US this type of equipment would not be allowed, because it's wood and therefore "dangerous". The city could get sued, such a shame.

I also love the random spanish on this!

What is that? A donkey? A horse? xD

A cool abandoned building next to the park.

Love all the color on the streets!

Some more street art on a different abandoned building

Love the architecture

It's a Trabi! A real live, working Trabi! These were the only cars available when East Berlin was under the GDR. Pankow is an Eastern district, so remnants of the past still remain.

I thought this was so cool - it's a high school that apparently has been given money by the government in order to preserve the structure's authenticity. I would love to go to school here!

We were also quite impressed at the staircases. Wouldn't it be a pain to live on the 4th floor?!

This guy, up at the top, has the best view! Seriously, I want his apartment.

Oh, what's in here?

It's a castle shop! Cool!

And now, one of the coolest features in Pankow - an outdoor living room! Fabian tried the chair and found it suitable. Too bad the light doesn't work.

Then he played imaginary chess with himself.

Another view of the living room. There was a bed as well!

I found this neat looking window as we were walking back.

HAHAH okay let me explain: this was inside a second-hand shop in Pankow. Fabian went to try to find a white elephant gift for a party he was attending. He found this plastic replica of the bust of Venus with a clock on the back (seriously) and declared his search over!

But then we found a dog with a gigantic penis! HAHAHA! Unfortunately, as funny as it was, we both declared it too over the top for a work-related party. xD Still, how funny would it be to get this as a present???
And that's Pankow! I hope you enjoyed this district!
