Admiralty Head Lighthouse

The Admiralty Head Lighthouse is one of my favorite places out here. I often refer to it as “My Lighthouse”,  and it is a prime attraction in Ft.Casey.  Many people use it for their weddings because the view is so beautiful. It was built in 1861 and rebuilt in 1903. German architect Carl Leick made its walls
18 inches thick in order to withstand the earthquakes that affect western Washington.
There is now a museum in the lighthouse showing visitors a slice of life from the early years of the once working structure. The lens was shut off in 1922, and the lantern was moved to Dungenness Lighthouse near Sequim,(Sk-wim) on the Strait of Juan de Fuca, where it currently resides. It was shut down until the 1950’s when it was re-open to the public as a Washington state park.
I like to bring my friends here when they visit, the view is amazing, and you will often see barges and cruise line ships going by.
Across the water you can see Port Townsend, there’s a ferry that will take you there as well.

I love this place, it looks like a white jewel surrounded by the emerald grounds of Ft.Casey and Ebey’s landing stretching out behind it.

These are some of my favorite shots I've taken of the lighthouse

This is what the origional building looked like.

It is considered an important landmark in Washington. It's supported by the sales of liscence plates and other items. Many people on the island have this liscence plate.

A stamp (pretty old if it's twenty-five cents.)

I wanted to add pictures of the view from the inside, but I can't seem to find them, if I do I'll add them in later. There are older images of the Lighthouse and Ft.Casey here: http://www.admiraltyhead.wsu.edu/gallery/ some of them are really cool.
