60km away from the seminar
Eeeeeey how are you?!, here is my anti semar report for those poor people like me, who have to work, and can´t be in Münster!!

Here in Werther, booooring everyday life keeps going on, but today and yesterday we´ve been harvesting, so i thought that might be interesting enough to tell you about

For the beginning, we had to finish the construction of our bins in the morning, this is the first year of use, and they havn´t been ready yet.
This is my brother and a friend of my father making a bit of concrete, and me taking the need of a photo as an excuse not to work

When we startet the harvest of this crop, i found a startled person standing beside the field, asking me if its right that there is black stuff coming out of the combine...

... but it is. We call this \"raps\" in german, wikipedia says its \"Rapeseed\" or \"rapa\" in english.

This is the seed, its pretty small, like a mustard seed, and full of oil, wich makes it so interesting to plant. The second thing is the seed pod, wich is by thrashing tried to seperate from the seed.

The main use of the crop is the produktion of oil. You can buy it as vegetable oil in the supermarket, or, even more interesting, use it as bio-diesel and drive your car with it!
Since we have the law in germany, that says that 3% of the sold diesel must be bio diesel (so they mix it), and the biogas-powerplants use it as well, the price gone up in the last years.

This is the cutting head used for rapa, if you compare it with my report about the barley harvest from last year, you would see, that it has those scissor like blades on each side, they are just for looking cool.
no actually not
The crop is growing very much in another, so that you wouldn´t be able to take one single plant up into the machine, the blades cut through the field.
Lunch break. time to quickly check solarnet news in Münster!

Taking back 2 full trailers to...

...our farm

Thats the world seen prom the perspective of a tractor driver
(i´m not quite sure if the little red lamp is supposed to be blinking...)
When driving with two trailers, you have to be aware all the time, cause each trailer, especially the last one, drive a much smaller circle curve than the tractor.... so i´m driving over our gardens grass, hope nobody saw it...

This last pciture, is of a device to test the humidity of the seed, if its to wet, its not possible to store it. It crushes the seed, and tests it by sending energy trough it...
This time it was a little to wet, we needed to dry it in a big dryer in our shed, that costs money, so lesser profit.
That was my day, hope your´s was a little more exciting
We are done with the rapa harvest - for this year!Let´s see what tomorrow brings, i reckon cultivating the empty fields with a grubber...
Enjoy the rest of your day, see you friday on seminar...
