South Island New Zealand
[report].nz.environment.nature.travelling.[/report]
after our visit in christchurch
and a month full of work on a new zealand farm
we're on the road again.
did a trip around the south island and saw some really amazing places.
as first we've gone to mount cook. it is the highest peak in new zealand
this is the view right next to our campingground
and after a little walk you can reach this nice spot. this place is formed from a glacier just a few hundret years ago
the melting glaciers left big lakes in the area east of the southern alps. here i'm standing over the biggest one "lake pukaki"
on our way down to queenstown we passed this wounderfull valley
west of queenstown in glenorchy we did skidiving
and as you can see we've had best condition for the jump
we were very excited because it was our first jump out of a plane
and thought, that the view from the ground is amazing aswell
but behind this point there was no return
for going futher we've been rewarded with such a great view. unbelievabel
to jump out of a plane is the strangest feeling i've ever had. you want to do it but you don't either. but i really enjoyed it
the landscape here in new zealand is totally different to the other places we've visited
thats the way you look after landing
this nice old train gave us a wake up the next morning after camping near a little river
the next place on our trip was te anau, with the "keppler track". we haven't done the whole track, but we got a great impression of the landscape
can you see frodo?
our next stop was the most south point of the southern island of new zealand. and aswell the most southern point of our journey at all.
there we have seen the beach again
the building in new zealands countryside are ,ostly build with timber and just the chimney with stone. so if a house burns down the chimney won't burn down andyou get pictures like this after a few years
from the south we're heading to the westcoast on the "haast pass" along this beautiful river
the fox glacier, a famous spot for tourists
we haven't seen the kiwi but they have these signs everywere
we even saw a sign for moa's. moa's were 3 meter high. and there is no moa living anymore since around 200 years.
and the last picture a nice spot near arthurs pass
hope you enjoyed these pictures.
i enjoyed taking them

thx for reading
